Acceptance

By using MovieForUs you accept these Terms of Use. If you do not accept them you cannot use your account; you can delete it at any time under Profile → Account.

Who can use it

Only people aged 18 or over may use MovieForUs.

You must give accurate information about yourself, use only one account, and not open an account in somebody else’s name.

Community rules: zero tolerance

The following is never allowed. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account may be closed without warning:

• Nudity, sexual content or obscene photographs
• Harassment, insults, threats, persistent and unwanted messages
• Hate speech; discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability
• Violence, encouraging self-harm, or illegal activity
• Spam, advertising, fraud, asking for money or personal information
• Impersonating somebody else, using somebody else’s photographs
• Any content or contact involving people under 18

Reporting, blocking and moderation

If you come across a profile or a message that troubles you, you can report it from inside the app and block the person. Somebody you block can no longer match with you or write to you.

We review reports and remove content that breaks the rules. Where rules are broken we may suspend an account or close it permanently. Where the law requires it, we may share information with the authorities.

Your report is kept confidential; the other person is not told who reported them.

What you share

Your photographs, your profile details and your messages are yours. You allow us to store them so we can provide the service, and to show them to the people you match with.

You are responsible for what you share. Do not upload photographs you do not have the rights to.

Your safety

We do not verify people’s identities or backgrounds. Meet anyone you have met here for the first time in a busy public place, tell someone close to you where you are, and do not share personal or financial details.

If you are in immediate danger, call the emergency services.

Matching and location

Matches are suggested on the basis of how far your taste in films overlaps — worked out from the films you swipe and like — the filters you choose, and a 300 km limit. In fan clubs, being in the same club is enough and the limit is 1000 km; the clubs you join are shown on your profile to the people you match with. We do not guarantee that a match becomes a relationship.

Your location is used only to work out distance; the people you match with see a rounded, approximate distance, never your exact location.

Film data

Film information and imagery are provided by TMDB. MovieForUs is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Usage data and analytics

To improve the app we record what you do in it: the screens you open, the films you open, heart, rate and swipe, your matches, that you sent a message (not what it said), your use of shared rooms and changes to your settings. These records are sent to Amplitude, an analytics service running on servers in the European Union.

They do not include your name, email address, photos, the content of your messages, what you type into search, your location, your IP address, your gender or who you want to match with. The service knows your account only by a user number.

We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the app; you do not have to agree to it to use the app. If you do not want it, turn off “Share usage data” under Profile → Settings → Privacy; with it off no more usage data is sent from that device, and no feature of the app is affected.

When you delete your account, Amplitude is automatically asked to delete these records too, and completes the deletion within 30 days.

Your account and your data

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time; your profile, your photographs, your matches and your messages are permanently deleted.

For the safety of the community, records of reports made about you may be kept after your account is deleted. How your personal data is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Limits of liability

MovieForUs is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for how people behave towards each other or for what follows from meetings outside the app.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, you will see the new terms and accept them before carrying on with the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Türkiye.
